HBM collected as part of a clinical trial does not fall within the scope of the law of 12/19/2008 and is not concerned by these procedures unless:

  • The investigator wishes the HBM to be temporarily stored for more than 24 hours by the BHUL before being sent to the sponsor
  • The promoter is the University Hospital of Liège

In both cases, a collection and a study must be set up, with identical titles:

  • Collection request: simplified procedure described in the diagram below.
  • Study request: like any other request

When the investigator wishes to transfer the aliquots of HBM stored at BHUL to the sponsor of the sponsored clinical trial, he/she contacts BHUL's Scientific Director (stephanie.gofflot@chuliege.be). Transport of the HBM is the responsibility of the sponsor; an "HBM to User Transfer Form" (Aliquot transfer form) is attached to the shipment, must be completed by the carrier and the recipient of the shipment, and returned to BHUL.
